The Promo ID

Here’s an idea…if you haven’t already thought of it.

When you next create some Station IDs for your station, why not create a few Promo IDs as well.

Promo IDs are Station IDs; they sound like Station IDs; they are the same duration as Station IDs; they have the same voice as Station IDs; and they are programmed as Station IDs.

The only difference is what they say. Each Promo ID promotes one feature on your station.

Instead of saying something like:

“All the classic hits, all day, here on 93FM,”

they might say something like:

“Great advice for your family. Focus on the Family, weekdays 8pm, here on 93FM.”


”Listen out for the Big Bang Breakfast with Mandy and Kim, from 6, here on 93FM.”

There…short and sweet, it keeps people listening to your station, and it says the station name.

Place your Promo IDs in a playlist with your Station IDs. With good rotation, they will get lots of exposure, and keep people aware of your main features.

Promo IDs and Station IDs probably sound best between two songs, at the end of a commercial break, or directly before a main feature like the news.
