My Most Embarrassing On-Air Moment

One Saturday morning, I was talking about a news story (it was about the bible being translated into the Klingon language from Star Trek). Half way through, my brainĀ embarrassedwent to sleep. My mouth was open, but no words came out. There was dead air for a few seconds before my brain re-engaged and I hesitatingly managed to finish my piece.

Then, I could see the studio phone was ringing. I was sure it was the Programme Director, wondering what was going on. I was too embarrassed to answer it.

Lesson learned? Script out your voice break – or at the very least, write bullet points on a piece of paper (with all the important words you might possibly forget!)

What about you? What lessons have you learned the hard way?
